 Back of the book tease:

A small-town baker with dreams of opening her own brick-and-mortar bakery enters a baking competition, but instead of winning the grand prize, finds herself in the middle of her ex’s plan to acquire her business for a big box retailer.

Two years ago, Ginger opened a bakery, Ginger’s Goodies, to honor a promise she made to her late mother. Ready to take her business to the next level, Ginger enters a baking competition hosted by big box retailer, Decadent Dough. What she doesn't count on is running into her high school ex, Brock Pearson, who works for the company.

Instead of joining his father’s firm, The Pearson Group, Brock Pearson was eager to prove he could be successful outside of his father’s shadow and joined the legal team at Decadent Dough thirteen years ago. When his mentor retires, he throws his hat in the ring to become his successor. The job is his if he can find potential acquisitions, one of which is Ginger's Goodies.

For Ginger, joining Decadent Dough is a hard NO.
However, Brock will not back down easily because now he wants to win her heart again.

And just when Brock and Ginger were at the precipice of sealing the deal of love....

Brock's boss learns Ginger is the daughter of his college rival. Now, he will stop at nothing to destroy her business. To make matters worse, he convinced Ginger that Brock is part of his scheme. To prove his innocence, Brock may lose his shot at the promotion he's coveted and the career he's worked so hard for.

Ginger and Brock's careers and hearts hang in the balance. Which is more important than the other?

My review:

First Impressions: A contemporary second chance at love for the career aged character and reader. When you think of second time around, you think of older love. In this case, the first heartbreak happened to teens. Are they more mature this time to step into love again?

Action: Not much action between these pages.

Adventure: An up and down war between emotions of love and trust and doubt and suspicion. And not all of that is between a woman and a man, but also between an employer and employee, and promises of awards too good to be true and disappointments to crash dreams. A baking contest will increase Ginger’s business expansion. A strategic promotion will send Brock to the top of his game in law. But will love for each other derail their dreams or strengthen, embellish, and forge them into finer human beings and therefore an amazing couple?

Romance: Sizzle and electric attraction but restrained on the physical. No worries about the behind-the-door passion, but the sparks fly and the magnetic allure is evident. Ginger and Brock were made for each other, like sugar and cinnamon on a bun.

Religion: This is a Christian romance where praying and faith are primary but not overly done.

Art: Mouthwatering desserts are explained and created before the reader’s eyes. The reader can almost smell the aroma of right-from-the-oven scones, pastries, cookies, and cakes. Cupcakes, arranged into a teapot and a building, and presented before the judges will tease the imagination.

Final Thoughts: If you are a fan of contemporary romance, then Batch of Love is like frothy cream in your coffee. The unique characters express charm and zest in their personalities and temperaments. Their unique strengths and weaknesses are akin to sweet and tart ingredients to create creamy delights of decadent deserts that are whipped up and served to tantalize everyone. Passion for food and passion for each other bake the perfect recipe for an all-round good read. A bonus: the reader is introduced to characters who appear in another delightful romance from this award-winning author, Natasha Frazier.

I give this book 5*    Buy Batch of Love
