Blending In by Robin Densmore Fuson

Outside the window, something caught my attention, and I went out to the lanai to investigate. I snuck up on it so not to startle the reptile. The inch long grayish, yellow green, frog picked the perfect place to be unseen. His coloring camouflaged him.

Was he born that particular shade and happened to sun himself on the matching color hot tub cover? Or did he change his color for his environment? Many tree frogs can change their appearance to blend in with their background, humidity, mood, or just hiding to catch their next meal.

Can we relate? Do we act differently depending on who we are with? Are we one person in public and a different person at home?

Social media is a good gage. Are we inclined to put on a happy face all the time? Do we post things that can be controversial? Or do we avoid them?

Do we try to keep the peace at all costs? Or are we one to push buttons to see who we can go toe to toe with?

What about sharing our faith? Are we bold to be a red frog on a green background or do we try to blend in with what others are saying?

Easter is coming. Are you going to take advantage of the holiday to proclaim Christ is risen? How about telling why that is so important?

So many times, we hear people saying, “He/She is now in heaven.” That’s wonderful if they trusted Jesus as their Savior and realized He is the only way.

We need to be bold in telling people the truth. Not all roads lead to Heaven. Creator God is Holy. All people are born sinners (Romans 3:23). Sin must be paid (Romans 6:23). Only a perfect sinless person can pay for the sin of one’s soul. Jesus, as one-hundred percent God and man, is the only person to meet the standard set by God the Father.

We humble ourselves to acknowledge we are sinners and need of a Savior. That payment covered all sin for those who accept Jesus as the sacrifice. (Romans 5:8)

Are we bold enough to tell the truth, or do we shy away and blend in with the consensus of the crowd? Do we care enough to take flack for discussing people’s souls?

If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and you believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved (Romans 10:9-10 nlt).

It’s difficult to tell someone they need a Savior and without Him, they are on the way to Hell. Often we are afraid to say that word in reference to their destiny. Hell is no laughing matter. It is eternal separation from God. Eternal punishment of sin and actions. Jesus spoke of Hell more than He spoke of Heaven. He wants all to come to Him.

Death is not oblivion. When a body dies, their soul goes to one of two places—Heaven with the Lord or Hell with Satan and his minion demons. It’s not a party place where one hangs out with friends. The lake of fire is a place of torment.

Our silence is like blending in. Not making waves. Not confronting people with truth.

We need to decide if we are going to be like the frog and camouflage ourselves, seeping into the background, or to be our true-self a Child of God and share the amazing gift of everlasting life in Heaven?

First, we need to make sure we are on our way to heaven. Being born into a Christian family does not do it. Being a decent law-abiding citizen does not count. We need to examine our hearts to make sure the most vital decision has been made, then we can exclaim and explain how to go to heaven.
